Email marketing for Shopify stores used to mean hours of copy-writing, fumbling with drag-and-drop builders, and manually hunting down product images. I just did the whole thing (product newsletter, luxury HTML template, live discount code, and Klaviyo campaign) in under five minutes. With an AI.

This is how it worked, why it matters for your ecommerce email marketing, and how you can do the exact same thing for your store.

What is Ninja AI?

Ninja is an AI store manager built by Molin AI, the same team behind the AI shopping assistant used by over 1,000 ecommerce stores across 20+ countries.

While Molin sits on your storefront answering customer questions 24/7, Ninja works behind the scenes: managing inventory, creating campaigns, writing SEO content, running competitor research, and (as you're about to see) building complete email marketing campaigns from a single prompt.

Ninja connects directly to your Shopify store via the Molin app, and to your Klaviyo account via API key. No copy-pasting. No screenshots. No manual uploads. It reads your live product catalog, pulls CDN-hosted images, creates discount codes, builds HTML email templates, and pushes everything directly into Klaviyo, all from one conversation.

The Prompt I Used

Here is the exact prompt I gave Ninja, word for word:

"Create a luxury beauty email newsletter (Klaviyo) with a valid 10% coupon (add it to Shopify) for our new products and add a how-to-use guide too. Sections: hero banner, featured product: [your main product name], 3-column product grid: [3 product names], numbered steps on how to use, promo banner. Warm, refined, magazine-editorial aesthetic. Get the product image addresses from Shopify"

That was it. Two sentences. No template brief, no image URLs, no HTML knowledge required.

What happened next took under five minutes.

Step 1: Pulling Product Images Directly from Shopify

nivea-product-pictures

Ninja queried the Shopify Admin GraphQL API to find all NIVEA products and their CDN-hosted images:

Products found: - NIVEA Lip Oil Clear Glow → cdn.shopify.com/.../lip_oil_white.png - NIVEA Caring Beauty Lip & Cheek Coral → cdn.shopify.com/.../caring_beauty_white.png - NIVEA Original Care Lip Balm → cdn.shopify.com/.../original_care_white.png - NIVEA Hydro Care Lip Balm SPF15 → cdn.shopify.com/.../hydro_care_white.png

Why this matters: Never use third-party image URLs (brand websites, Amazon, etc.) in email templates, they are frequently blocked by email clients. Always use your own CDN-hosted images. Ninja knows this and pulls from Shopify automatically.

Step 2: Creating the Discount Code in Shopify

Ninja created a live, active discount code directly in Shopify via a single GraphQL mutation, no dashboard required:

Code: NIVEA10 Discount: 10% off all products Applies to: All customers Usage: One per customer Expires: 31 December 2026 Status: ACTIVE ✓

The code was live in the Shopify store before the email template was even built. No logging into Shopify Discounts, no manual configuration.

Step 3: Building the HTML Email Template

Ninja built a full, production-ready HTML email template with:

  • Hero banner: dark warm editorial aesthetic, serif headline, gold accents

  • Featured product: NIVEA Lip Oil Clear Glow with benefit callouts

  • 3-column product grid: Caring Beauty Coral · Original Care · Hydro Care SPF15, each with a Shop button

  • How to Use guide: 4 numbered steps (Cleanse, Apply, Protect, Layer & Elevate)

  • Promo banner: NIVEA10 code prominently displayed with a gold CTA button

  • Personalisation: {% if customer.first_name %}Hey {{ customer.first_name }}{% endif %}

  • Footer: unsubscribe link, {{ email }}, {{ organization.name }}

All images use Shopify CDN URLs. All layout is table-based for email client compatibility. No external CSS. No JavaScript.

The template was pushed directly to Klaviyo via the Templates API.

Step 4: Creating the Klaviyo Campaign

With the template uploaded, Ninja:

  1. Fetched the Klaviyo list ID for the Email List

  2. Created a new campaign with subject line, preview text, sender name, and sender email

  3. Assigned the HTML template to the campaign message

  4. Left the campaign in Draft: ready to review and send

The entire Klaviyo setup, template, campaign, assignment, was three API calls.

Campaign summary: Name: NIVEA Lip Care, Luxury Editorial + NIVEA10 Subject: The Art of Lip Care, 10% Off Inside 💄 Preview text: Your exclusive NIVEA10 code is waiting Audience: Email List Status: Draft

Newsletter Examples & Screenshots

Version 1: Clean Editorial (Light)

The first iteration used a light grey background with white product panels, alternating image/text layout, and a dark navy "SHOP NOW" button per product. Minimal, magazine-editorial, close to the reference newsletter style used by premium beauty brands.

Version 2: Luxury Dark Editorial

The final version uses a deep warm brown (#1c1410) with gold accents (#c9a97a), Georgia serif typography for headings, and a 3-column dark product grid. The promo banner features the NIVEA10 code in a gold-bordered box against a gradient dark background.

Design decisions behind the luxury aesthetic:

  • Serif headline font (Georgia): signals premium, editorial, editorial weight

  • Warm dark background: associated with luxury beauty (think La Mer, Charlotte Tilbury)

  • Gold (#c9a97a) as the accent colour: warm, premium, pairs with dark brown

  • Sans-serif body text: improves readability at small sizes in email clients

  • Table-based layout: ensures consistent rendering across Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail

How to Use Guide: The Copy

Here is the exact "How to Use" guide Ninja wrote for the email, which you can adapt for your own products:

Step 1: Cleanse

Begin with clean, dry lips. Gently blot away any residue to allow the formula to absorb fully and work at its best.

Step 2: Apply

Glide smoothly over your lips in one fluid motion. For the Lip Oil, one to two passes delivers the perfect glossy finish.

Step 3: Protect

Reapply as needed throughout the day, especially before sun exposure. The Hydro Care SPF15 balm is your essential outdoor companion.

Step 4: Layer & Elevate

Wear the Lip Oil alone for a pure glass-skin glow, or layer it over the Caring Beauty Coral for a luxuriously tinted, dimensional finish.

Why This Matters for Shopify Email Marketing

Ecommerce email marketing drives more revenue per dollar than almost any other channel. Klaviyo reports an average ROI of $45 for every $1 spent. But most Shopify store owners either:

  1. Spend hours building campaigns manually

  2. Send generic, low-effort emails that don't convert

  3. Don't send at all because it feels too complicated

The workflow above took under five minutes. Here is why that matters:

Speed = consistency. The biggest predictor of email marketing success is sending frequency. If it takes you three hours to build a campaign, you will send one per quarter. If it takes five minutes, you will send when it makes sense: product launches, restocks, seasonal moments.

Product images from your own CDN. Ninja pulls images directly from Shopify. No broken images in email clients, no manual uploads, no hotlinking from third-party sites.

Discount codes created at the same time. The code is live in Shopify before the email is drafted. No risk of sending a discount code that doesn't work.

Production-ready HTML. The template is table-based, inline-CSS, and tested for compatibility across major email clients. Not a drag-and-drop screenshot. Actual code that renders correctly.

How to Get Started

You need three things:

1. Connect your Shopify store to Ninja

Go to molin.ai/shop-ai/setup and connect your Shopify store. The free plan is enough, you do not need to publish the chatbot widget. Connecting the store gives Ninja direct API access to your product catalog, orders, and customers.

2. Connect Klaviyo

Get your Private API Key from Klaviyo → Settings → API Keys and give it to Ninja. It is stored securely in an encrypted vault and reused automatically for future tasks.

3. Send Ninja a prompt

You can be as specific or as vague as you like. Some examples that work well:

"Create a product launch Klaviyo newsletter for [product names] with a 15% discount code on Shopify."

"Write a re-engagement Klaviyo email campaign for customers who haven't ordered in 90 days."

"Build a promotional Klaviyo email for our Black Friday sale. 20% off everything on Shopify."

Ninja will handle the Shopify image pull, the discount code creation, the HTML template, and the Klaviyo campaign setup. You review the draft and hit send.

The Prompt, In Full

For reference, here is the complete prompt used to generate everything in this article

Version 1:

"Create a luxury beauty Klaviyo email newsletter with a valid 10% coupon (add it to Shopify) for our new products and add a how-to-use guide too. Get the product image addresses from Shopify."

Version 2:

"Create a luxury beauty email newsletter (Klaviyo) with a valid 10% coupon (add it to Shopify) for our new products and add a how-to-use guide too. Sections: hero banner, featured product: [your main product name], 3-column product grid: [3 product names], numbered steps on how to use, promo banner. Warm, refined, magazine-editorial aesthetic. Get the product image addresses from Shopify"

Products referenced: NIVEA Hydro Care Lip Balm SPF15, NIVEA Original Care Lip Balm, NIVEA Caring Beauty Lip & Cheek Coral, NIVEA Lip Oil Clear Glow.

Total time from prompt to live Klaviyo draft: under 5 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Ninja work with all Shopify stores?

Yes. Any Shopify store can connect via the Molin app at molin.ai/shop-ai/setup. It takes about two minutes and the free plan is sufficient for full Ninja access.

Does Ninja work with email platforms other than Klaviyo?

Yes. Ninja can also be used with many other email marketing tools that offer an API.

Can Ninja send the email, or just draft it?

Ninja creates the campaign in Draft status so you can review it before sending. You can ask Ninja to schedule or trigger the send once you have reviewed the preview in Klaviyo.

Is the HTML email template mobile-responsive?

The templates Ninja builds use table-based layouts with inline CSS, which renders correctly across Gmail, Outlook, and Apple Mail. Mobile media queries are included where supported.

Does the discount code expire?

Yes. Ninja sets an expiry date when creating the code. In this example, NIVEA10 expires 31 December 2026. You can specify any expiry you want in your prompt.
