If you're reading this, you probably already pay Gorgias every month and just saw the AI Agent line item grow again. That's not a coincidence. Gorgias prices AI Agent per resolved interaction, on top of its regular Helpdesk plan, and the company says so itself: “Most plans are $0.90 per resolved interaction,” with overage fees once you exceed your plan's included allowance.
We compared five real alternatives on the same basis: what ecommerce platforms they actually integrate with, how AI usage is billed, and what a mid-size store pays once the AI is doing real work, not just the sticker price on the pricing page.
How we tested
We looked at four things for every tool: how deep the ecommerce platform integration goes (native plugin vs. generic widget), how AI usage is metered and billed, what a store running a realistic AI conversation volume actually pays per month, and how the vendor's own pricing page and blog describe their AI billing model, not third-party estimates.
Every price and quote below comes from the vendor's own live pricing or blog page, checked this week. Screenshots are included so you can verify them yourself rather than take our word for it.
The comparison table
Tool | Best for | Starting price | AI usage billed as |
|---|
Molin AI | Shopify, Shoprenter, UNAS, Shoper stores that want one flat bill | $19/mo per seat | Included in seat price, fixed conversation cap per tier |
Richpanel | Shopify stores that want a Gorgias-style helpdesk at a lower seat price | $69/agent/mo | Per-agent seat, AI conversations billed separately |
Zendesk | Enterprise support orgs already inside the Zendesk ecosystem | $19/agent/mo (Suite Team AI add-on) | Per automated resolution, ~$1.50–$2.00 each |
Intercom | Product-led teams wanting the lowest advertised per-outcome rate | $29/seat/mo + Fin usage | $0.99 per resolved Fin outcome |
Tidio | Small stores with low, predictable AI conversation volume | $32.50/mo for 50 conversations | Per AI conversation, ~$0.65–$0.78 each |
Gorgias | Shopify stores that already accept ticket- and resolution-based pricing | $40/mo Helpdesk (Starter) | $0.90–$1.00 per resolved AI interaction, plus overage |
What the AI resolution fee actually costs at scale
Sticker prices don't tell you much here, because every one of Gorgias' competitors (other than Molin) also meters the AI separately from the seat or helpdesk fee. The pattern holds across the whole category: pay a base platform fee, then pay again for every conversation the AI actually resolves. That second charge is the one that surprises people, because it scales with how well the AI is doing its job, not with how many people are on your team.
Tool | Base plan (1 seat, mid tier) | AI cost at 700 resolved conversations/mo | Estimated monthly total |
|---|
Molin AI | $55/mo (Growth, 500 conversations included) | Included up to plan cap | $55–$119/mo depending on tier |
Richpanel | $69/mo (Pro, 1 agent) | ~$140 (700 × $0.20, on top of seat) | ~$209/mo |
Gorgias | $77/mo (Basic Helpdesk) | ~$630 (700 × ~$0.90, minus small included allowance) | ~$700+/mo |
Zendesk | $55/mo (Suite Team, 1 agent) | ~$1,050 (700 × ~$1.50 committed rate) | ~$1,100+/mo |
Intercom | $29/mo (Essential, 1 seat) | ~$693 (700 × $0.99) | ~$722/mo |
Molin is the only flat-fee story in the group. Once you pick a tier, the conversation cap is fixed and included, there's no per-resolution meter running in the background. Everyone else's bill goes up in direct proportion to how good their AI gets at resolving tickets, which is a strange incentive to build a support stack around.
Molin AI
Molin is built specifically for ecommerce, with native plugins for Shopify, Shoprenter, UNAS, and Shoper, installed the same way you'd install any other app, not a generic widget bolted onto a site scrape. Pricing is flat per seat with a fixed monthly conversation cap per tier: no per-resolution fee, no overage meter running while your AI does its job.
Best for: Shopify, Shoprenter, UNAS, or Shoper merchants who are done being surprised by their AI bill and want the cost of automating support to go down as a percentage of revenue, not up.

Richpanel
Richpanel is the most direct Gorgias competitor on this list; it markets itself explicitly against Gorgias and Zendesk, advertising “30% guaranteed savings” over both. Pricing is per-agent-seat ($69/mo Pro, $99/mo Pro Max, billed annually), with AI conversations metered separately on top.
Best for: Shopify stores that want ecommerce-native ticketing and are willing to trade Gorgias' AI resolution fee for a per-conversation fee plus a per-agent seat cost instead.

Zendesk
Zendesk markets itself as “the #1 AI customer service solution,” and AI Agents are bundled into every Suite and Support plan starting at Suite Team ($55/agent/mo). But the AI itself is billed separately: Zendesk's own pricing FAQ states plainly that AI agent pricing is “based on the successful outcomes they deliver,” measured in Automated Resolutions, with committed-volume rates commonly cited around $1.50 per resolution and pay-as-you-go closer to $2.00.
Best for: Larger support organizations that need enterprise-grade routing, compliance, and omnichannel coverage, and who have already modeled their resolution volume against Zendesk's committed pricing tiers.

Intercom
Intercom's Fin AI Agent is included in every plan tier (Essential $29/seat/mo, Advanced $85/seat/mo, Expert $132/seat/mo), but billed separately at a flat “from $0.99 per Fin outcome.” That's the lowest advertised per-resolution rate of any tool on this list, and Intercom backs it with a “million dollar guarantee.” The catch is a minimum monthly usage commitment, and some ambiguity in how a partial handoff counts as an “outcome.”
Best for: Product-led teams that want the cheapest advertised per-resolution rate and are comfortable with Intercom's outcome definition and minimum commitment.

Tidio
Tidio's Lyro AI agent is priced by conversation, not by confirmed resolution: plans start around $32.50/mo for 50 Lyro conversations, working out to roughly $0.65–$0.78 per conversation depending on the package. That's billed whether or not Lyro actually solved the customer's problem, since Tidio counts a conversation as chargeable the moment Lyro sends one reply.
Best for: Small stores with low, predictable AI conversation volume who want the lowest entry price on this list and don't need deep order-management integrations.
Gorgias
Gorgias built its reputation as the Shopify-native helpdesk, and its Helpdesk plans still make sense for teams that want ecommerce order and customer context baked into every ticket. The AI Agent add-on is where the bill gets unpredictable: Gorgias' own pricing explainer states most plans run “$0.90 per resolved interaction,” Starter plans start at $1, and overage fees apply per additional interaction once you exceed your plan's included allowance, which starts as low as 30 automated interactions per month on the Starter and Basic tiers.
Best for: Shopify stores that already accept ticket- and resolution-based pricing and don't mind a bill that scales up as their AI gets better at doing its job.

The verdict
If your problem with Gorgias is specifically the AI resolution fee stacking on top of your Helpdesk bill, Molin is the straightforward switch: flat per-seat pricing, a fixed conversation cap instead of a per-resolution meter, and native plugins for Shopify, Shoprenter, UNAS, and Shoper instead of a Shopify-only integration. If you want to stay in Gorgias-style ticket-based pricing but at a lower seat cost, Richpanel is the closest match. If your support volume is unpredictable month to month, be careful with Zendesk, Intercom, and Gorgias' per-resolution pricing until you've modeled your actual usage, because that's exactly where the bill stops being predictable.
